On their last working day, they discussed anti-corruption solutions in the 4th Industrial Revolution and ASEAN’s health system. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Minh Minh attended a discussion on Asian geopolitical prospects. He warned of challenges facing every country in the region: “It is undeniable that the 4th Industrial Revolution brings us a lot of opportunities, but countries that don’t seize those opportunities will be left behind. The development gap, increasing inequality within each economy and between economies, poverty, urbanization, climate change, and environmental pollution are all great challenges to Asia”.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended a discussion themed “Future employment in ASEAN”. He said the world is entering the 4th Industrial Revolution, which will lead to changes in labor trends. He called on ASEAN countries to increase cooperation in education and training, share labor information, revise labor policies, and create favorable conditions for employees. Deputy PM Dam said: “Vietnam, and particularly Vietnamese youth, are optimistic about the future of the 4th Industrial Revolution despite emerging challenges. Vietnam is improving its education system. We need to make youth aware of the future world and use technology to prepare them to meet new demands.”

Delegates asked the government to create a flexible policy that bases each employee’s retirement age in the 4th Industrial Revolution on their capacity.

WEF ASEAN 2018’s closing session in Hanoi later on Thursday will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh.
