White House to restrict investment on all countries trying to steal US technology
(VOVWORLD) - The Trump administration plans to place investment restrictions on all countries that attempt to steal US technology, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Monday, refuting reports over the weekend that such measures would specifically target China.
Mnuchin said stories published by Bloomberg News and the Wall Street Journal concerning Trump's planned actions against China are false, fake news. The leaker either doesn't exist or know the subject very well, Mnuchin tweeted.
In May, the White House unveiled plans to impose high tariffs on Chinese imports and also said it will announce restrictions on Chinese individuals and entities involved in M&A projects concerning sensitive US technology on June 30.
