In his telegram, Putin said that this crime is shocking in its cruelty.

The same day, British Prime Minister Theresa May sent her condolences to Trump, calling the shooting “a completely senseless and cowardly attack”. British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson strongly condemned the attack and said the UK is willing to help in any way possible.

In an address from the White House, President Trump described the attack as "pure evil", adding that he will come to inspect Las Vegas on Wednesday. Trump sent his deep condolences to families of victims on Twitter.

The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the Las Vegas attack. Its  Amaq news agency said the suspect Stephen Paddock converted to Islam "months ago". It added that the attack is a response to the US-led coalition against IS. The FBI denied that there was such a link.
