World media remembers Vietnamese President

(VOVWORLD) - World media has published President Tran Dai Quang’s biography and his contributions to Vietnam following his passing on September 21.

Cuba’s Granma newspaper wrote: “The sudden death of Tran Dai Quang is a painful loss to the Cuban people and government, given the great friendship and ties of cooperation that exist between the two nations.” The  Prensa Latina quoted  the Ambassador of Cuba to Vietnam, Lianys Torres, as saying “President Tran Dai Quang was a great friend of Cuba, a strong promoter of the historic bonds of brotherhood between our countries.”

The China Daily published an article about the last working days of President Quang, who hosted meetings of heads of delegations to the 14th Assembly of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI 14) in Hanoi, 2 days before he died.

Russia’s Gazeta Daily and TASS news agency reiterated important contributions made by the Vietnamese President to the Vietnam-Russia ties. Several newspapers republished an interview between TASS and the President ahead of this visit to Russia last year, saying the Russia-Vietnam sincere friendship has stood the test of time.

France’s AFP news agency and the UK’s Reuters quoted a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry who praised President Quang as a prominent leader and contributor to Vietnam’s reform and openess.
