(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s exports have been on the rise since Vietnam became a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2007. Permanent Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Cong Nghiep was speaking at a meeting with WTO Director General Roberto Azevedo in Switzerland on Tuesday. Nghiep introduced Vietnam’s recent economic development and international trade, saying Vietnam has been actively involved in WTO activities and forums. Vietnam has renewed its tax policy and simplified tax and customs procedures to facilitate imports and exports. Nghiep expressed his hope that the WTO will continue its assistance to Vietnam during the world economic integration. Azevedo praised Vietnam’s role in the world community and promised WTO’s assistance to Vietnam in its integration into the global economy. The same day, Nghiep visited the World Trade Institute in Switzerland, one of the world's leading academic institutions dedicated to international trade. The institute executives offered to help the Finance Ministry in international integration capacity building.
