Yemen President wants reconciliation talks moved to Saudi Arabia

(VOVworld) - Yemeni President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi called Tuesday for UN-brokered reconciliation talks to be moved to neighboring Saudi Arabia if agreement cannot be reached on a venue inside Yemen.

He had earlier proposed that the talks resume in Aden or Taez, which are outside the control of the Houthi militia. As Aden and Taez are not acceptable to some, Hadi called for shifting the talks to the headquarters of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Riyadh.

Meanwhile, the Houthis opposed any change of venue for the UN-brokered talks. The General People's Congress party of ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who is widely accused of backing the militia, has warned that it will boycott any talks held outside Sanaa.
