An official of the Yemeni Information Ministry said the condition was offered at a meeting between UN special envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed and representatives of the Houthi forces and Yemen’s ruling party, the General People's Congress (GPC).

The Houthi militants and the GPC both urged the UN to intervene to stop the airstrikes and organize negotiations in Geneva instead of in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh.

The parties involved discussed extending the current humanitarian cease-fire, restoring dialogues between political factions in Yemen, and conducting relief campaigns.
