Dang The Vy is the head of the Pulmonology Department at Ninh Thuan province’s Tuberculosis and Pulmonary Disease Hospital. During his career, Vy has managed to cure many serious cases. 85-year-old Thi Mo was taken to hospital with a high fever, difficult breathing, close to death. After being diagnosed with pneumonia by Dr. Vy, Ms. Mo underwent treatment and her health has much improved. Ms. Nguyen Thi Mang, Mo’s daughter, said her mother has been treated at this hospital for more than 3 years: “Doctor Vy is very enthusiastic and dedicated. He really cares about the patients”.

Vy graduated from Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 1998. From 2000 to 2003, he worked at the Preventive Medicine Center and the Center for Social Diseases Prevention in Ninh Thuan province. Vy has actively communicated about tuberculosis and made people aware that TB is curable and people should not discriminate against TB patients. He gives medical advice and encourages patients to cooperate during their treatment. As a result, , 90 percent of diagnosed TB cases in Ninh Thuan province have been cured: “It’s great encouragement for me in my career whenever I cure a patient. I’m committed to this career my whole life”.

Vy has been widely recognized for his great contribution to the public heath sector. Mr. Thien An Khanh, Deputy Head of the Tuberculosis and Pulmonary Disease Hospital in Ninh Thuan province, said: “Not many people want to have contact with TB patients, but doctor Vy does his work with all his heart. He is dedicated to bringing hope to all patients”.
