Vietnam will attend the U19 Bangkok Cup in Thailand between October 8 and 13 in preparation for the AFC U19 Championship 2020. This will be the debut tournament for Vietnam U19’s French-born coach Philippe Troussier.

“I want Thailand U19 to win this tournament and gain experience. It’s quite good that we are facing Vietnam at this time. We will use our best 17- and 18-year-old players, who will play to win and play fair,” said Somyos.

Vietnam U19 consists of 9 Viettel players, 5 SLNA players, 5 PVF players and others from Hanoi, HAGL, Binh Duong, among others.

The team will train at the PVF Youth Training Center until September 23. Coach Troussier will pick the 28 best players from his 36-man roster for the Thai tournament.

In the qualifying round of the AFC U19 Championship 2020, Vietnam U19 is in group J with Mongolia, Guam and Japan. The group matches will be held in Ho Chi Minh City between November 6 and 11. Thailand U19 is in group G and will play Malaysia, Brunei, North Mariana, and Cambodia.
