The festival aims to honor Don ca tai tu, a musical genre that UNESCO has recognized as intangible cultural heritage. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the festival serves as a premise for Bac Lieu province to work out development orientations for cultural values. The Prime Minister called on community effort to promote the development of Don ca tai tu. 

A conference on investment promotion and development connection opened at Ho Nam eco-tourism zone in Bac Lieu on Saturday as part of the festival. The participants proposed ways to help Bac Lieu improve its tourism products and establish cooperative relations with other provinces and cities.
