Thousands of people attended the event organized by the Organizing Board of the Blood Donation Drive, the Hanoi Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, and the Hanoi Blood Donation Mobilization Youth Association. The organizing board hopes to receive 3,000 blood units during the 2-day festival which also features street parades and communications and camping activities.  Doctor Bach Quoc Khanh, Director of the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Institute and Chief Organizer of the Red Journey Program said: “The blood collected can serve our treatment until August. We hope that healthy people will donate blood because if one person donates blood once a year, we can collect millions of blood units a year which will be sufficient for health treatment.”

Over the past month, many communications activities were held to raise people’s awareness about blood donation and more than 42,000 blood units were collected.
