The criteria gauge the level of business development in 2017 and from 2010 to 2017 and were compiled by the General Statistics Office. The 10 major criterions cover operating businesses, new businesses, businesses with resumed operations, businesses with suspended operations, dissolved businesses, workers, capital, revenue, pre-tax profits, contributions to State budget, and workers’ income.

Chairing the media conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said the set of criteria provide a good foundation for State agencies, sectors, and localities to adopt relevant policies to achieve the goal 1 million companies in Vietnam by 2020. Mr. Hue said: “On the basis of the criteria, localities, including locomotive areas like Ho Chi Minh city, Hanoi, Southeastern region, Da Nang, or Hai Phong  must assess how local business have been operating, so as to take appropriate measures in implementing the government resolutions and continuing to improve local competitiveness.”

As from 2019, the General Statistics Office will release the business development criteria and the white book on Vietnamese business situation annually on Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day October 13.
