(VOVworld) – More than 100 international investors gathered at an investment promotion conference in Washington on Wednesday to help American enterprises and investors understand Vietnam’s current situation and its government’s policies and determination to reform.

The 5-day conference was held by the State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC) and chaired by Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung.

It is hoped that the event will bolster US investors’ trust in the development potential of the Vietnamese market and create new prospects for comprehensive US-Vietnam relations, especially in economics and finance.

The conference, themed “My Vietnam – Your investment destination”, will focus on Vietnamese policies and open a dialog between Vietnamese businesses and American investors.

According to the SSC, the dialogue will allow Vietnamese policymakers to use US investor feedback to refine Vietnam’s policies and mechanisms, while giving American investors a clearer picture of the Vietnamese market through case histories of US firms already accessing Vietnam’s financial markets and investing in Vietnamese companies that are listed on securities exchanges.

This year Vietnam and the US are celebrating 20 years of bilateral diplomatic ties and economic cooperation.
