Hollywood’s “Kong: Skull Island” hits Vietnam theaters

(VOVworld) – “Kong: Skull Island”, Hollywood’s thrilling summer blockbuster premiered in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city on Thursday. The movie was shot at several locations in Vietnam, including Ha Long Bay, Phong Nha and Tam Coc - Bich Dong caves.

The movie, which reportedly cost 190 million USD, takes viewers back to the 1970s before the American government decided to withdraw US troops from Vietnam. Researchers with the monster-hunting government agency Monarch explore uncharted “Skull Island” to try to prove the existence of a creature which could defeat humans and destroy life on earth. They eventually discovered King Kong and other giant beasts.
Actor Phan Anh said at the premier in Hanoi: “This episode shows the world how beautiful Vietnam is and provided a great opportunity for Vietnam’s cinematographers to learn the latest film-making technology.”The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has nominated Jordan Charles Vogt-Roberts, director of “Kong: Skull Island” to be Vietnam’s tourism ambassador in the 2017-2020 tenure.
