The Labor Confederations in cities and provinces have focused on improving the material and spiritual lives of workers especially those living in difficult conditions. They also examined the implementation of laws and policies related to rights and benefits of the laborers.

To respond to this year’s Workers’ Month, the Confederation of Labor in Kon Tum province launched an emulation campaign to improve labor productivity. They visited and presented 90 gifts to poor workers. Nguyen Ho Que, a worker in Kon Tum province, has benefited from the workers support program: “My family used to live in difficulty. My wife is sick and I have to work to support the whole family. With 1,600 USD supported by Kon Tum province’s Labor Confederation, I managed to build my house. I hope that more workers will be assisted through this program”.

May 1st was chosen to be International Labor Day in 1946. In Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh signed a decree on May 1st, 1946 to declare this day a national holiday.
