Overseas Vietnamese celebrate Lunar New Year festival

(VOVworld) The southern province of Tra Vinh has organized a gathering of more than 150 overseas Vietnamese returning home for Tet from many countries. Tong Minh Dien, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, acknowledged contributions by overseas Vietnamese people to local socio-economic development. Participants were delighted to see the positive changes in Vietnam and said they always turn their hearts to the homeland. Tran Huu Quan lives in the US:"I admire Vietnam’s socio-economic development, particularly in religious issues. The pagodas and Christian churches have been upgraded while religious rituals are celebrated jubilantly and freely."

Vietnamese Embassy in Finland held an informal meeting with the Vietnamese community on the occasion of Lunar New Year. Nearly 100 guests representing generations of Overseas Vietnamese in Finland attended the event with the embassy’s staff. Participants expressed their pleasure to attend the meeting which shows the concern of the Party and State to the Vietnamese community abroad in general and in Finland in particular.

On this occasion, Vietnamese Ambassador in Finland Doan Ngoc Boi expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community would continue to be united.

The General Consulate of Vietnam in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, has hosted meetings to celebrate the New Year with representatives from provincial authorities and overseas Vietnamese. Consul General Dang Ho Phat expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community would promote unity and help strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
