(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited the Infantry Brigade on island 242 in Van Don district on the 72nd anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the creation of National Defense Day. He encouraged the soldiers to fulfill their task of protecting national territorial integrity and sovereignty: “We need to fulfill tasks assigned by the Party and State. Vietnam has over 3,200km of coastline. Sea and islands protection and the East Sea issue are strategic tasks in the future.”

Vietnam’s major newspapers ran articles Thursday featuring the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army 72 years ago and the creation of National Defense Day 27 years ago.
The People’s Army newspaper highlighted building the army and strengthening national defense. It called the Vietnam People’s Army an invincible military force. According to the paper, today the Vietnam People’s Army has turned into a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern force. Over the years the Party, the army, and the people have done their utmost to empower the military and increase the potential of an all-people national defense to ensure that the Vietnam People’s Army can fulfill its national defense mission in any circumstance.
The People newspaper said that, upholding their glorious tradition for seven decades under the leadership of the Party and State, the army and the people have mobilized every resource to make the Vietnam People’s Army stronger worthy of Uncle Ho’s praise: “Our army is loyal to the Party, faithful to the people, and ready to fight and sacrifice for national independence, freedom and socialism.”
