The fund for the poor has mobilized more than 11 trillion dong and 7 million poor people have been given assistance since then. The fund mobilized nearly 1 trillion dong since early this year to support better housing for 34,000 households and schooling for nearly 300,000 children.
The Fatherland Front President Nguyen Thien Nhan told Radio Voice of Vietnam in an interview: “There are over 1.3 million poor households and 1.2 million households close to poverty line. Our campaign for the poor will combine resources from the state, households and funds for the poor to finance for basic needs such as housing. I expect the movement for the poor will help them escape poverty in a sustainable way to help build new rural areas in the next 5 years.”
