The event was co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, Trinh Dinh Dung, who is also Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee on Climate Change, and the UN Country Coordinator in Vietnam, Pratibha Mehta.

Dung said Vietnam is among the countries most vulnerable to climate change, which has caused more and more severe typhoons, floods, and drought, devastating human lives and property. He added that Vietnam was working effortlessly to mitigate the impacts of climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Vietnam has committed to joining international efforts to respond to climate change, including the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) plan.

At the dialogue, representatives of UN bodies, development partners, the Danish and US Embassies, and the EU promised to work more closely with Vietnam, share their experiences, and provide assistance for Vietnam’s climate change response.
