Vietnam committed to preserving cultural heritage

(VOVworld) – At a ceremony to mark 40 years of UNESCO’s 1972 Convention for  preservation and promotion of heritages, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said that over the past 25 years, participation in the Convention has raised people’s awareness of heritage preservation and development in Vietnam and brought about make considerable changes in many localities.

Mr. Nhan asked the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and localities to honor their commitments to heritage preservation and promotion. The Deputy Prime Minister presented certificates acknowledging Trang An, Tam Coc and Bich Dong as special national heritages. Kishore Rao, Director of UNESCO’s World Heritage Center promised to support Vietnam’s heritage preservation and promotion efforts.
