Themed "Gender and Oceans", the United Nation's World Oceans Day calls on people of all genders to take responsibilities in protecting the oceans and come up with ideas to handle plastic waste. Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People’s Committee Dang Viet Dung said: “We are facing a serious challenge of maritime exploitation. Plastic pollution in the oceans is increasing and continuing to harm marine life. We call on our citizens to protect the environment by not discharging untreated waste to the sea. We encourage fishermen will continue fishing in the sea to contribute to economic development and protecting Vietnam’s legitimate sovereignty.”
