Agriculture is the only sector to gain a trade surplus of 8.5 billion USD in 2013 and 9.5 billion USD last year.

Vietnam now has 10 agricultural export items posting turn-over surpassing 1 billion USD and has signed seven free trade agreements with multilateral and bilateral partners.

Tran Kim Long, Director of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said Vietnam has, so far, made the most of its potential and opportunities brought by FTAs and actively dealt with challenges of international integration.

Long said “state management agencies and domestic enterprises should be well aware of international economic integration and pay more attention to the issue. To realize this, we should combine modern farming techniques and international practices to turn out farm produce with obvious origin to meet world requirements.
