At the conference organized by the Vietnam Economic Times and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ho Chi Minh City Wednesday, participants forecast that this year the country has more opportunities to make giant leap forward.

Ngo Van Tuan, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, highlighted last year’s impressive results: 13 completed economic targets,  a GDP of 6.81%, Vietnam’s business index moving from 82nd to 68th place among 190 economies, and the national competitive index up from 60th to 55th among 137 economies. Vietnam has actively integrated in to the global economy to enhance renovation and reform.

Vu Viet Ngoan, a member of the Prime Minister’s economic advisors’ group, said Vietnam’s economy will benefit from positive changes in the global economy and investor’s trust. This year’s inflation may be higher than last year but remains under control.
