(VOVworld) – The Voice of Vietnam marked World Radio Day on February 13. VOV Vice President Vu Hai said this day not only honors radio broadcasting but also affirms the cultural values it brings to our daily life. He said that despite the robust growth of multimedia, radio will continue to advance:“When television came into being, people thought radio would die, but it continued to develop. The strength of radio is its ability to reach anyone, be they in remote areas or on the move. The Voice of Vietnam should continue to enhance this strength by applying advanced technologies.”

Mr. Hai said the theme for this year’s World Radio Day, “Youth and Radio”, is meaningful because youths account for a large number of listeners and are good at Internet and mobile technologies. He said that VOV’s youth programs with its diverse and innovative content communicate education, healthy lifestyles, and life skills to young people: “VOV’s youth programs, such as “the window of love”, “music gifts”, and “Vpop on the move”, have received positive feedback and involved many young listeners across Vietnam. VOV will continue to create forums for the young to express their opinions and feelings.”

Mr. Hai said that VOV will continue to adapt to modern technology and global integration. VOV considers listeners its focus, target, and driving force for development.
