YSEALI holds conference on ASEAN cooperation

(VOVWORLD) -The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) held a conference on economic cooperation within the Southeast Asian region Wednesday in Hanoi.

The event drew 80 young delegates from ten ASEAN member countries to gain an insight into intra-ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), US-ASEAN trade relationships, and economic and regional issues relevant to the AEC.

The program, titled “Generation ECommunity” was funded by the US Department of State in collaboration with Kenan Foundation Asia and the Center for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS) on the 50th anniversary of ASEAN and 40th anniversary of the US-ASEAN diplomatic relations.

YSEALI program, which began in 2013, is designed to improve leadership capabilities for people between the ages of 18 and 35, promote US education and culture, and enhance the US and Southeast Asia relationship. The program focuses on citizen’s positive thinking, education, environmental protection, and economic development.
