The annual program, the 13th of its kind, includes traditional activities such as anime and manga cosplay, Yosakoi dance, Kirigami paper-craft, Yukata photo taking, Haiku poem display, and Hoi An night via telescopes.

As part of the event, a handicraft carpentry skill competition will be held in An Hoi Statue Garden and Hoi An Flower Lantern Festival 2015 will take place in Hoai River and An Hoi Statue Garden.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Yanagi Jun, an envoy of Japanese Embassy to Vietnam, said he will do his utmost to strengthen the friendship between Japan and Vietnam as well as between Hoi An town and other localities in Japan.

He said that“more than 1,000 Japanese people lived in Hoi An city 400 years ago. With time-honored traditional relations, Hoi An has successfully organized 13 programs of cultural exchange like this. Through my second time in Hoi An, I realize that there are many Japanese tourists and cultural similarities with my country. We should preserve and further develop the fine relationship.”
