France reshuffles cabinet

(VOVworld) – On Thursday French President Francois Hollande recalled his former Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault to head the foreign ministry. Ayrault replaced Laurent Fabius, who is leaving to head France's top constitutional council. These two changes were most awaited by the French people and have been widely covered by French media recently.

3 members of the French Green Party (EELV) were appointed to the cabinet. Its leader Emmanuelle Cosse was named housing minister. EELV lawmaker Barbara Pompili joined the government as junior minister for international climate relations and Jean-Vincent Place as junior minister for state reform.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls’s new government was broadened 6 posts to 38 posts. Hollande reshuffled the cabinet in a bid to widen his currently low public support ahead of next year’s presidential elections.
