(VOVworld) – Ho Chi Minh City’s Union of Friendship Associations marked its 25th founding anniversary on Tuesday. The union is intended to meet Vietnam’s need to expand friendship and solidarity and international cooperation for national reform.

Vo Van Thuong, Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, addressed the ceremony: “Vietnam’s current practical development requires the city’s union to develop constantly and diversify our forms of relations, strengthen exchanges to take advantage of international friendships and partners’ support, especially regarding maritime sovereignty. We should attach importance to cooperation in economics, trade, science, and technology.

To date, the city’s Union of Friendship Associations has 30 branches which have greatly contributed to implementing the Party and government’s multi-lateralization and diversification of international relations to serve the construction and development of the city and country as a whole.
