(VOVworld) - Vietnam attaches importance to increasing friendship and cooperation with Latin American countries, including consolidating and strengthening its multi-faceted relations with Chile.

National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the remarks during Tuesday’s reception in Hanoi for the Vice President of the Lower House of the National Congress of Chile, Denise Pascal Allende, who is in Vietnam to attend the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU-132).

The host suggested each nation’ legislature support and promote measures to enhance a deeper partnership between Vietnam and Chile.

She urged the two Governments to back one another at multilateral forums, such as the UN, the IPU, and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), saying that Vietnam hopes Chile will support Vietnam’s candidacy to the UN Security Council (2020-2021) and the UN Economic and Social Council (2016-2018).
