Rodong Sinmum, the official daily of the ruling Korean Workers’ Party, said in a commentary that in the time that Washington is keen on its hostility towards Pyongyang, talks are just to justify Washington’s economic sanctions against North Korea and military drills with South Korea. The US’s hostility is demonstrated by not only economic sanctions but also diplomatic pressure and threat of unilateral preemptive attack so North Korea will retaliate by all means, even nuclear strikes, the newspaper said.

North Korea’s response followed a recent announcement by the Trump administration to tighten economic sanctions against North Korea and its threat to take military action for North Korea’s nuclear and missile tests.
