President Truong Tan Sang receives US senator Patrick Leahy

(VOV) - Vietnam attaches great importance to developing the comprehensive partnership with the US, considering the US a leading partner, said State President Truong Tan Sang while receiving Patrick Leahy, President pro tempore of the US Senate, in Hanoi on Friday. President Sang proposed that the US Congress support the opening of its market and reduce trade barriers against Vietnamese goods imported into the US. He urged the US to early recognize Vietnam’s market economy status and back ongoing negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement between the two countries.

He voiced the US’s desire to increase cooperation with Vietnam, especially in economics, trade, investment, science-technology, education-training, and in dealing with war aftermath.
