(VOVworld) – The Republic of Ireland wants to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, said the President of Ireland Michael Daniel Higgins at his meeting with Vietnam’s Ambassador to the UK, Nguyen Van Thao, who came to present his credentials on Wednesday. Ambassador Thao sent President Truong Tan Sang’s regards to President Higgins and thanked the Irish government’s support for Vietnam and the Vietnamese community in Ireland. Ambassador Thao also paid courtesy visits to the Speaker of Irish House of Representatives, Sean Barrett, the Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Niall Burgess, and Chairman of the Irish National Parliament’s Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee, Pat Breen.
