(VOVworld) – Vietnam Fatherland Front President Nguyen Thien Nhan visited and congratulated Buddhist dignitaries and monks at the Quang Duc Monastery in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday on the occasion of Buddha’s birthday.

Nhan said that during the past 2,000 years of existence in Vietnam, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has proven to be an active member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in all social aspects, especially humanitarian activities.

The Sangha has encouraged Buddhist monks, nuns, and followers both at home and abroad to participate in emulation movements and other major movements launched by the Front, thus joining hands to take care of disadvantaged people and policy beneficiaries and to help disaster victims.

President Nhan called on all Buddhist Sangha members to continue their tradition of contributing to a prosperous, democratic, fair, and civilized Vietnam.
