Vietnamese Party Secretary’s Russia visit is a milestone in bilateral ties

(VOVworld) – Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong’s upcoming visit to Russia marks a milestone in bilateral ties, demonstrating the two states and people’s aspirations to lift their traditional friendship to a bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Nguyen Thanh Son. He made the remark in an interview with VOV correspondents in Russia prior to Trong’s visit scheduled for Sunday, adding that Vietnam-Russia relations have been consolidated by agreements on bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership and by the mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Ambassador Son said: “We think that both countries are enjoying fruitful cooperation in military, education, and training. Russia wants to help Vietnam train young scientists and intellectuals. Vietnam and Russia are discussing building a nuclear power plant in central Ninh Thuan province. Numerous well-known Vietnamese cultural activists and artists have been trained in the Soviet Union or Russia.”

The ambassador said the Vietnamese community in Russia has contributed significantly to Russia’s stability and economic development.
