Vietnam’s contributions to global gender equality activities

(VOVworld) - Madam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Vietnam NA Vice Chairwoman, has reiterated the importance of the “World Assembly for Women”, illustrating the Japanese government’s attention to the involvement of women in Japan’s social life and in the world.

In her address at the closing ceremony in Tokyo on Saturday, Madam Ngan said the meeting offered an opportunity for delegates to put forth solutions to handling new challenges over women’s empowerment.

She noted that Vietnam has proactively implemented its national strategy on gender equality until 2020, set national targets in the field, and boosted international cooperation in bilateral and multilateral manners.

Earlier in his opening speech, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent a message of women and men alike cooperating to create a society in which it is easy for both women and men to live.

Mr. Abe pledged an ODA of more than 4.2 billion yen toward high-quality education for women and girls worldwide over the next three years.

This is the second time Japan has organized such an event, gathering more than 1,300 female representatives from 40 countries and 7 international organizations.
