Vietnam’s trade surplus to US hits 4.5 billion USD in Q1

(VOVworld) -  Vietnam’s trade with the US in the first quarter of this year totaled 7.8 billion USD, up 25% year on year. The General Department of Vietnam Customs reported Vietnam’s trade surplus to the US hitting 4.5 billion USD. Vietnam mainly exports its spearhead products, notably mobile phones and spare parts, which earned 6 times more than in the same period last year.

The US is Vietnam’s second largest trade partner, just after China. Vietnam’s exports to the US, which have recently surpassed imports, fetched a record high of 18.6 billion USD in 2013.
