ASOCIO ICT Summit opens in Hanoi

(VOVworld) - The Asian-Oceania Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) ICT Summit 2014 opened in Hanoi on Wednesday with the participation of 700 delegations from nearly 20 regional countries. In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that he highly valued the summit theme “ICT - the new paradigm in social-economic development and agriculture restructuring”.

He said IT application in agriculture shared at the summit was valuable for helping Vietnam to develop its agriculture: “The development of SMAC- social, mobile, analytics, and cloud–networks will motivate smart development with all values being maximized. Everyone ranging from farmers to scientists, countries with advanced science and technology and poor countries can use IT to improve their competitive edge and contribute more to the global value chain. Technology in general and IC will create an unlimited connection of time and space and opportunities for all individuals, especially disadvantaged people such as farmers to develop and benefit from development achievements”

After the opening ceremony, three talks were held, focusing on IT-restructuring in agriculture, new IT paradigms to effectively improve public services and SMAC- social, mobile, analytics, and cloud technical foundation for smart development.
