Activities to mark War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day

(VOVworld) – On Sunday, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Inspection Ngo Van Du offered incense at Truong Son Martyrs’ Cemetery. He also visited and presented gifts to social beneficiary families in Quang Binh province on the occasion of War Invalids, Martyrs’ Day, July 27th. Du asked provincial leaders to care more for those who rendered great service to the revolution and called on local people to be united to develop the economy.

A ceremony to inaugurate a complex of flower floating by O Lau river and commemorate war martyrs took place on Sunday in Hai Son commune, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province. The complex covers an area of 5,000 square meters with total investment capital of 550,000 USD.

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Tri province held a requiem for martyrs at Truong Son Martyrs’ Cemetery. On this occasion, leaders of Nghe An province visited and presented gifts to families of martyrs and disadvantaged war invalids.

An art program titled “Hong Ha – Cuu Long” was held at the martyrs’ cemetery in Vinh Long province. Nearly 300 youth union members and young people lit candles to commemorate martyrs who died in war time.

At the weekly program “People Ask, Minister Answers”, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen affirmed that the Party and State have always paid special attention to revolutionary contributors and daily life of families of war martyrs, and heroic mothers. Providing education for children of social beneficiary families is the major focus. Ms. Hai Chuyen: “The Party and State have always had preferential education policies for children of war invalids and martyrs. Under those policies, the children are supported with books and free education”.
