Those organizations and associations took part in an exchange festival in Montreuil city, on the outskirts of Paris, in June to strengthen friendship and solidarity between Vietnamese and French peoples. In the petition, the organizations and associations show their support to Vietnamese people who are struggling for national independence, building a peaceful and stable environment, a prosperous, democratic country and defending national sovereignty in line with international law. After collecting signatures from 31 organizations and associations in France, UGVF sent the petition to Vietnamese agencies including the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Overseas Vietnamese Committee to express support to Vietnam’s effort to defend its sovereignty over the sea and islands and protest China's illegal acts that are threatening peace and security in the region and the world.
