(VOVworld) – A ceremony to mark UNESCO’s 70^th anniversary was held in Hanoi on Monday. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said UNESCO’s activities have practically benefited Vietnamese families, localities, and communities.

Vietnam has always fulfilled its tasks as a UNESCO member, implemented initiatives and cooperative programs, and taken managing positions in UNESCO agencies.
He expressed his hope that UNESCO will continue promoting a culture of peace, tolerance, and respect for cultures. “With the tradition of honoring peace and education and a time-honored culture, Vietnam has always upheld UNESCO’s principles and purposes. Many UNESCO’s initiatives match Vietnam’s aspirations and the concept of a letter that President Ho Chi Minh sent to the Chairman of the UN General Assembly in January 14, 1946 “Vietnamese people are willing and want to implement the San Francisco Charter and the UN Charter.”
Head of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam Katherine Muller-Marin told VOV that UNESCO has good relationship with Vietnam in national development activities, culture, education, science, green growth, and climate change response.
Ms. Muller-Marin said: “There’re many areas we’re working together: social transformation, supporting Vietnam in regional and international integration. There are many ways to do that through the inscription of heritage sites and intangible heritage works, biosphere reserve, and registration for memory of the world. I really feel that it has been very successful results during my 6 years working in Vietnam.”
