Deputy FM: APEC 2017 documents show determination to boost free trade, investment

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son chaired a meeting with representatives of foreign embassies and organizations in Hanoi on Friday to inform them the results of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang.

Mr. Son said that last week’s event drew 11,500 participants, including 4,500 leaders of 21 APEC member economies, 4,000 businesspeople, and 3,000 reporters.

Themed “Creating new dynamism, fostering a shared future”, the APEC Meeting adopted 8 documents, including the Da Nang Declaration and the APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM) Statement. The documents show countries’ strong determination to meet APEC’s goals and core values and to boost free trade and investment. The statements intend to promote APEC’s achievements on human resource development, growth, structural reform, trade facilitation for SMEs, globalization, and connectivity to benefit its people and lay a new foundation for APEC’s cooperation in the future.

Mr. Son thanked member economies and foreign organizations for their support and cooperation to make APEC Economic Leaders’ Week a success.

Representatives of foreign diplomatic agencies and organizations in Vietnam appreciated the results of the APEC Week and APEC Year 2017 as a whole, and Vietnam’s coordinating role in the context of challenges facing cooperation and multi-lateralization.
