A “Book vehicle” provides a mini library on wheels. “Birthday with books” and “Book tours” programs have been organized to inspire a reading culture in the community, particularly among children. Art performances and cultural exchanges have been held to promote cultural values.

The Nguyen Van Binh “book street” is particularly popular when it hosts national celebrations.

Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that “Book street” has promoted reading and more should be done to spread the love of books.

Book street hosts about 20 events a week, including book debuts, exhibitions, and exchanges of rare books.

Le Hoang, Director of HCMC’s book street company, said, “The 'Book vehicle' program has encouraged a reading habit in children, and in adults, too. Reading is very important for the development of individuals and the nation. Book street has contributed to that end.”

Over the last 5 years, book street has received about 11.5 million visits and sold more than 3.5 million books. It recorded an average growth rate of 15% from 2016 to 2019.
