Party and State policies have always recognized people’s right to be informed.  To prepare for the elections, communications have been designed to create social awareness and involvement.

Diverse forms of election formation

Communications will be carried out before, during, and after the elections. The peak time will be from early April to May 23rd, election day. Communications from the National Election Council to local election committees, media agencies, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front ensure that all citizens have equal access to election information.

These communications have taken diverse forms: infographics, posters, and banners on web portals and social networks, seminars and quizzes, and local loudspeaker broadcast.

Vu Dai Thang, deputy director of Hai Phong city’s Department of Information and Communications, said: “The communications provide information to all organizations and individuals. Information on websites is easily accessed using mobile devices with an Internet connection. People don’t have to read the information from boards at the election sites.”

In ethnic communities, local authorities have paid attention to the customs, lifestyle, and language of each ethnic group.

Ma Van Huu, who works in the Culture, Information, and Sports Office of Co Linh commune, Bac Kan province, said: “We have produced news bulletins in Vietnamese, Tay, and Mong and broadcast them on fixed and mobile loudspeakers.”

Creating consensus

Election preparations have been carried out at all levels with widespread communications. Hoang The Minh, a resident of Hoa Binh commune, Ha Long city, said: “Communications have been well organized. All voters have attended meetings to learn about the election procedures, and they have received updates via radio and television.”

So far citizens have been informed of their rights and duties. They will soon receive information about the candidates.
