The Ministry of Industry and Trade is working closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to ensure an adequate supply of meat, fruits, vegetables, and other foodstuffs for the Lunar New Year. The Ministry has also cooperated with other ministries, sectors, localities, and Departments of Industry and Trade to help businesses resolve distribution problems and prevent disruptions of the supply chain of essential goods during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cities and provinces in the Mekong Delta are supporting the National Promotion Program 2021, the campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize Vietnamese goods”, and other programs to deliver goods to rural areas and industrial parks while safely adapting to COVID-19. Can Tho province, with the cooperation of 32 businesses, has stored 260 million USD worth of goods for Tet.

Ha Vu Son, Director of Can Tho city’s Department of Industry and Trade, said: "Businesses have pledged to work closely with the local industry and trade sector to ensure a sufficient supply of goods for local customers with good quality and reasonable prices. We have stepped up inspections to ensure compliance with disease prevention measures."

Convenience stores and supermarkets in Can Tho city have implemented sales promotions to stimulate demand.

Nguyen Kim Cuong, Deputy Director of the Co.op Mart in Can Tho city, said: "This year customers will do more online shopping on Zalo, Facebook, or Saigon Co.op websites instead of going to supermarkets as they did last year. We will take orders online and deliver the goods to the customers’ homes."
