The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that upon landfall Kajiki will bring hurricane-force winds with speeds up to 166 km/h and gusts of 201 km/h. Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh province have already prohibited people from going to sea and have released emergency directives requiring agencies and residents to implement storm preparedness measures. Authorities have mobilized forces to help residents reinforce houses, dikes, reservoirs, and other critical infrastructure.

In Hue city, coastal residents have pulled boats ashore or into safe harbors and reinforced homes. Border guard stations along the coast, working with local authorities, have deployed personnel and equipment to assist people in storm-proofing and are getting prepared for rescue operations.

Mr. Dao Quang Hung, Vice Chairman of the Thuan An communal People’s Committee, said: “We have prepared plans to evacuate residents. People have packed up essential supplies and are ready to evacuate immediately once an order is issued.”

Quang Tri province has ordered the evacuation of residents from high-risk areas, and instructed localities to notify and persuade people working in the forests to return home before the storm’s arrival. The province has prepared evacuation plans for 67,000 households, totaling more than 245,000 people.

Major General Nguyen Thanh Liem, Director of the Quang Tri provincial police, said: “Local communes need to inform and mobilize people working in forests, fields, and aquaculture watch huts to return home by 7 a.m. on Monday and stay home until the storm passes. In some cases, compulsory evacuation must be enforced.”

To minimize losses from typhoon Kajiki, the Government convened a meeting on Sunday to assign tasks to ministries, sectors, and localities. At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged authorities to act decisively and with urgency, stressing that the top priority is saving lives. He requested the evacuation of residents from areas prone to flooding, landslides, or tidal surges to safe locations; called for measures to ensure the safety of fishing vessels; and advised constant updating of the public on storm developments and floods.
