Localities promote year-end tourism

(VOVWORLD) - Many cities and provinces have implemented programs to stimulate tourism during the last days of 2021. They are introducing a series of new tourism products to appeal to domestic and foreign tourists and organizing both online and offline cultural and tourism events.

The HCM City Tourism Fair was held online for the first time this year on various venues including the fair’s website, the website of the municipal Department of Tourism, Shoppe, and Traveloka e-commerce platforms. The online fair featured 100 virtual booths of 27 cities and provinces and offered 10,000 discounts tickets for visitors.

Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of Tourism, says, 'Under its recovery plan, the Department of Tourism will introduce tourism products on e-commerce platforms. With special privileges and joint efforts of the city’s Department of Tourism and local businesses, HCM City’s tourism market is expected to recover and improve its competitiveness.'

To realize its target of welcoming 10 million domestic tourists this year, Quang Ninh province extended its 22 million USD tourism stimulus program and is offering 50% discounts on tickets for Ha Long bay, a world heritage site. The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Can Tho city promoted its tourism potential at the Busan International Tourism Fair 2021 which was held online.

Da Nang city is waiving admission fees to the Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountain) tourist site and local museums to recover the local tourism market. Khanh Hoa province has received the first group of tourists from the US and Canada under the vaccine passport program.

Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of Khanh Hoa’s Department of Tourism, said, 'Tourists must stay in resorts designated by the Department and participate in a package tour. Travel companies are responsible for a tour itenary that will give tourists full services and a satisfactory experience.'

Thanks to these efforts, the number of domestic tourists increased last month. The room booking rate is recovering. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism says that for now, Vietnam will focus on domestic tourists and will gradually receive tourists from other countries as the pandemic is gotten under control.
