Measures in place to fight COVID-19 in industrial parks

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has 360 industrial parks and export processing zones that employ nearly 4 million workers. Factories are enclosed, crowded work environment where it’s easier for coronavirus to spread. Businesses in industrial parks have been checking workers’ body temperature and disinfecting them at the door, and asking them to wear face masks.

As soon as the COVID-19 pandemic re-emerged in late April, the BumJin Electronics Vinas Company in the Dong Mai industrial park in Quang Ninh province tightened its disease prevention measures. Workers are required to come to work early to give officials time to check their body temperature and ask them whether they have fever or cough, and all workers must wear a face mask and disinfect their hands. Workers must even put on disinfected uniforms.
Doan Thi Thuy, a worker at BumJin Electronics Vina, says, 'We must come to work early for a body temperature check and disinfection. Before we leave the factory, we must follow the same protocols. With the COVID-19 pandemic worsening, the company is urging us to avoid large gatherings. We are required to report any travel and make health declarations. These requirements are very important to ensuring our safety.'
Many businesses broadcast pandemic news and health recommendations on loudspeakers to help workers stay safe.
Ngo Cuong, a worker at Toto Vietnam Company, said, 'We are required to wear facemasks and keep 2 meters distance when we queue in the canteen. And our dining tables now have partitions.'
Many businesses in industrial parks have set up COVID-19 task forces to disseminate information, enforce preventive measures, and monitor workers’ health.
