Party leader Trong says the main tasks of the internal affairs agencies are to give advice to the Party and State in  defending national independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity; protecting the People, the Party, the State, and socialism; maintaining national security, social order, discipline, and safety; combating crime; ensure justice, human rights, and citizen rights; and contributing to building a strong, pure Party and State. He said internal affairs cadres are a key, faithful force, a sharp sword and a solid shield safeguarding the Fatherland, maintaining social order, and protecting the People, Party, State, and regime.

Mr. Trong said that because of their crucial role in all socio-economic activities, internal affairs agencies need to strictly abide by all laws and regulations, uphold justice, objectivity, and transparency, and effectively control the power delegated by the Party, State, and people.

The Party chief called on these agencies to anticipate and correctly evaluate developments, identify risks, and make recommendations to the Party and State in order to safeguard the interests of the nation and ensure security and social order.

He said internal affairs cadres need to stay vigilant, look ahead, and stay prepared to defend national independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, security, and order. They also need to stay united and work closely with one another and coordinate with other agencies.

Internal affairs agencies should change their mindset in building and fine-tuning the legal system, consult the Party Central Committee on devising a Resolution on Building and Completing the law-governed socialist State of Vietnam by 2030 with a vision to 2045 and strengthening the legal framework to improve the performance of the State apparatus in order to boost national socio-economic development.

Internal affairs, which includes judicial activities, are aimed at protecting justice, human rights, citizen rights, socialism, the interest of the State, and the legitimate rights of individuals and organizations. The Party leader asked the agencies to focus on making Vietnam’s judicial system more professional and modern to serve the nation and the people. He said all internal affairs should uphold President Ho Chi Minh’s spirit of taking the people as the root, keep close contact with the people, help the people and learn from them, believe them and respect their right of mastery. He said that in any circumstances, internal affairs agencies need to put the people’s interests first.
