Party building, rectification to be expanded to entire political system

(VOVWORLD) - Delegates at the recent Party Central Committee meeting agreed to strengthen Party building and rectification and expand the work beyond the Party to the whole political system. The Party is determined to prevent and combat degradation of political ideology, morality, and lifestyle, as well as corruption and negative manifestations.

Party building and rectification have been the focus of recent Congresses of the Communist Party of Vietnam. At its latest plenum which concluded last week, the Party Central Committee agreed to expand Party building and rectification throughout the political system. The expansion is said to be relevant because in a ruling Party, Party members are assigned to work in all State sectors, the National Assembly, the People’s Council, the government, the People’s Committee, and social organizations. Party building and rectification is aimed at purifying cadres not just in the Party but also in the political system.

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Dinh Phong of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics said, 'The Party meeting focused on degradation, manifestations, and the importance of applying Party building and rectification to the whole political system. Previously, this work was focused within the Party only. But our Party is the ruling Party that leads the social State. Without strength and purity in political ideology, power can easily be abused for corruption.'

At the meeting, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong stressed that Party members should “walk the talk” and set an example in carrying out  resolutions, policies, and regulations of the Party and State. Mr. Trong also made clear the responsibility of every member of the Party Central Committee. This attitude toward Party building and rectification has received strong public support.

Nguyen Manh Thang of Hanoi said, 'I applaud the discussion of Party building and rectification and revisions to the list of things Party members are not allowed to do. This will strengthen Party discipline, and promote the setting of examples, the vanguard spirit, the fighting spirit, and the capacity of the Party.'

At the meeting, delegates stressed the importance of combating negative manifestations due to degradation of political ideology, morality, and lifestyle to enhance Party building and rectification. They agreed that negative manifestations are the roots of any degradation, particularly corruption. Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc, former Head of the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture, Education, and Youth Affairs, said that without fostering and sharpening rectification among Party members, degradation of morality and lifestyle will result in self-evolution and self-transformation.

'Degradation of morality and lifestyle are manifestations in action of self-evolution. When Party members concede their leading and vanguard role in life and are not good persons any more, they show signs of self-evolution. We need to understand what self-evolution means in order to combat it,' said Chuc.

Delegates agreed on the importance of being proactive in Party building and rectification.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc of the HCM National Academy of Politics said, 'It’s important to be more proactive and resolute in Party building and rectification, as Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong mentioned. This reflects the strong determination of the Party Central Committee, the Party Politburo, and the Party Secretariat to constantly fight against degradation, negative manifestations, and corruption.'

The recent Party Central Committee meeting is of great importance in promoting the vanguard spirit of Party officials and members in Party building and rectification and improving the capacity and fighting spirit of the Party. Urging every Party member to set an example and fight against manifestations of self-evolution and self-transformation will make the Party stronger.
