(VOVWORLD) - The 9th session of the 12th Party Central Committee concluded after 2 days of meeting. Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong said at the closing ceremony that the session prepared personnel for the Party’s future.
The 9th session recommended members of the Committee’s 2021-2026 term, conducted votes of confidence on members of the Politburo and Secretariat, and assessed the leadership of the Politburo and the Secretariat in 2018.
Cadres and personnel work are of ultimate importance
Party leader and President Nguyen Phu Trong said the Party Central Committee discussed and concurred with reports and documents of the Politburo. He praised the Politburo and the Steering Committee for thoroughly preparing documents which built on the experience of the previous tenure and complemented it with new principles and viewpoints.
“The Party Central Committee acknowledges that cadres and personnel work are of primary importance and must be decided carefully and effectively to develop a contingent of cadres with virtues and capabilities sufficient to their mission. Cadres, particularly those at the strategic level, will decide the success or failure of the revolution. Personnel planning is the first step of personnel work that reflects a long vision.”
Mr. Trong said the Party Central Committee agrees that personnel planning must be carried out step by step from the Committee to the Secretariat, the Politburo, and key posts in the Party and State, in preparation for the personnel work of the Party’s 13th National Congress.
Unity, consensus in personnel evaluation
The Party Central Committee said that a vote of confidence evaluates and acknowledges the efforts and achievements of every member of the Politburo and Secretariat since the beginning of the tenure and helps them correct and improve themselves. A vote of confidence is an effective way to ensure that cadres build strong, transparent Party and State apparatuses for national construction and defense.
“The result shows that the Party Central Committee has worked with a strong sense of responsibility and justice in assessing members of the Politburo and the Secretariat. It shows strong unity and consensus within the Committee. Members of the Politburo and the Secretariat take this opportunity to reflect on themselves and make good their shortcomings in order to fulfill their assigned tasks and deserve the trust and expectations of the Party and the people.”
Mr. Trong said assessments of Politburo and Secretariat performance have been comprehensive, showing unity and strong political will, upholding Marxism and Leninism and HCM’s Thought, and protecting the Party, the regime, and national independence and sovereignty.
